What should I do if I receive an eviction notice?

  • If you receive and eviction notice, make an appointment with ASMSU Legal Services immediately!

  • In Montana, a landlord cannot evict you without a court order.  That means before evicting you, your landlord must give you written notice, file a complaint with the court, and prove at a hearing that you should be evicted because you failed to pay rent, or violated either a term of your lease or the law.
